COPY OF LETTER SENT TO BATTLE OF BRITAIN MEMORIAL FLIGHT

Dear BBMF,
We were fortunate to have a flypast from one of your Spitfires at the above event a couple of weeks ago, and although you had engine problems with the Dakota that we had hoped for as well, the quality of the flypast we received from the Spitfire more than compensated us! Please will you pass on our sincere thanks, from The Blitz Buddies team and the MVT to the individual pilot and of course to the rest of your team for adding such a wonderful highlight to our event. We will be submitting a request in hope of a repeat performance next year!!
On a more sombre note, it was on that very same day we had a phone call from you to make sure that all was OK with the flypast, that you gave us the very sad news regarding the loss of one of your red Arrows team. The Blitz Buddies would like you to know that, as has now become the custom at our events, on the Sunday evening, one of our number played the Last Post. On this sad occasion we dedicated that moment to the memory of Flt Lt Jon Egging, and some 200 people stood in silence and respect. Thanks once again to all of you for your continued dedication to the BBMF and the pleasure and emotion it brings to so many. From The Blitz Buddies.
